Most of the butterflies in this collection were photographed on our property or nearby in Grant County, Oregon. Their ranges are much broader, however, like the Monarchs of Mexico. One particular elusive species, the Indra Swallowtail, has made frequent appearances in our yard. It’s very wary, but the blossoms of Lilacs provided a good food source. Swallowtails are large and easy to spot and view. Some of the most beautiful species are only 1/2 inch in size. Two examples of stunning tiny butterflies are the blues and the gray hairstreaks.
