White-nosed Coati
These
sociable animals are kin to raccoons and ringtails. In
the USA they are found from southeastern Arizona to the
Brownsville area of Texas. Females and young travel in
large bands and are active during the day. We
encountered coatis while hiking in the Chiricahua
Mountains of SE Arizona and at local watering holes in
Cave Creek Canyon.
